My New Janome

This is short post.  I am still celebrating purchasing a Janome 9450 from Topps Sew & Vac in Sarasota FL.  I always buy my machines there.  I ALWAYS want to support local suppliers –and they do sell online if you don’t live in the area.  I also love the fact that they service Janome machines with quick turn around times.

I  upgraded from my much loved Janome 8900– another very reliable and smooth machine.   I’d been looking at this newer model for awhile and finally decided to trade up a few weeks ago.  I am mainly a piecer.  Occasionally I use a few built in decorative stitches on my artquilts.  My needs are pretty simple, really.

The Janome 9450 has some features that really won my heart.   You can read all about the features here but let me tell you the main things that I love about this machine.

First, there’s the pop out light above the sewing area.  With this light, I did away with all of my supplemental lamps.  It’s a bright but not harsh light and it saves me from eyestrain.  Well played Janome!!

Next, it remembers the last setting that I was using when I turned the machine off.  I just love this little pop up message!  It saves me a bit of time if I want to return to using adjusted settings for the project that I am working on.

Third–it’s a quiet, smooth machine.  I listen to audio books while I sew, and this machine doesn’t distract me.

Next, I love the AUTOMATIC LIFTING PRESSER FOOT!  When I press the thread cutter at the end of a seam, the foot lifts up. And YES, I can set it to lift up with needle down OR needle up!  This saves a bit of time when I’m chain piecing or need to pivot.

I could go on and on….but the website explains it all.  There’s also a great YouTube series by Chatterbox Quilter  with very cool tutorials.

Now, back to sewing on my new friend!

Piece in Peace,

Carole

P.S., have you checked out my new series of videos on my YouTube channel?  I have been interviewing friends in the quilt world.  We have a blast sharing thoughts and ideas.  And we even stir up a bit of controversy now and then.  Click HERE to learn more.

  1. I bought a janome 9450 in March just before the lockdown. I absolutely love it! Did you know there is a workbook for it. I bought the workbook but haven’t had time to use it yet as I’ve been too busy finishing quilts and Christmas projects. I too love the auto presser foot lift and set down.
