Proudest 2020 Achievement

Today’s Prompt is “Proudest Achievement”.

Pivoting to Virtual Teaching and Lecturing

I am MOST proud that I was smart enough to start planning my first virtual class back in late 2018.  I started talking with video production companies in late 2018 about creating an on demand class.  At first, I was thinking it would be a series of DVD’s.  Remember those???   Well, in 2019, I switched to a plan to offer it as a web based on demand class and started making test videos, writing scripts and thinking about how I would market it.

Well, it took me almost 2 years, but I launched my

MidCentury Modern Curves On Demand Class in 2020.

The unexpected benefit is that all of my planning and research meant that in March 2020, when all my in person teaching cancelled, I was almost ready to go to Zoom based learning.  I had to scramble a bit, but I had the tech equipment and I knew how to use the Zoom platform.  (I had used Zoom for group coaching and training in my corporate consulting life for about 5+ years.) Fortunately,  I was deep into conversations with many other quilt and craft teachers about how to create a LIVE virtual teaching experience that would be as engaging and effective as in person.  I had my moments of fear and doubt like many other teachers, but our teaching community supported each other.

Today, I am in  love with virtual teaching.  My students are saying that they find virtual classes just as inspiring, challenging and satisfying as being there in person.  And, for the thousands of  quilters who never could travel to in person events, the huge increase in virtual offerings has been a blessing!

If you are interested in my live virtual classes, you can watch a preview.  Registration is open to individual quilters until all seats are full–click here for the classes open now.  I add more classes all the time so be sure to sign up for my Newsletter too.

And… Yes, I Miss Seeing You IRL

Yes, I do miss being in the room and sharing those unexpected moments of laughter that crop up in class.  I miss the hugs most of all.  And I am looking forward to being with everyone….again…..

Piece in Peace,

Carole
