QuiltCon2015 MiniQuilt and Charity Quilts

Hi,

One of the highlights of QuiltCon2015 was a wonderful display of Charity Quilts made by guilds and teams of individual members.  Go Here to the Modern Quilt Guild Blog to see many photos of the quilts. The quilts were returned to the makers so that they can be donated to a local nonprofit as a display item or as a possible fundraising opportunity.

The Sarasota Modern Quilt Guild (my home guild) made a quilt.  Here are a few photos:

PIN SWAPS And…another fun activity at QuiltCon2015 was a Pin Swap.  I collected a lot of pins and decided to make a miniquilt to hold them all.

Here’s my QuiltCon2015 MiniQuilt!

We had a lot of scrap fabric and partial blocks left over from our quilt so I decided to ‘sew the stash’ and only use what was in that bag to make my mini.  It was a lot of fun and here’s the result:

It measures about 18 by 24 inches.  At the top left, you’ll see the Modern Quilt Guild logo.  In one of my swag bags, I had a car decal so I scanned it onto printable fabric and pieced it into the top.

I also did a lot of improv machine quilting with my walking foot and hand quilting using size 8 Perle thread.
