I am committed to Sew My Stash 2018!
Here’s the latest sew my stash finish in my trio of quilts for a niece and her family who recently bought their first house.
For a tutorial on how I made this quilt, go HERE.
Finish #3 in this trio of gifts. It’s a very large lap quilt–finished at 68 x 80–so it’s big enough for 2 to snuggle under. I’ll be washing it this weekend and mailing it off on Monday.
I pieced a binding from leftover fabric. I attached it with the machine binding method, using a meander stitch built into my Janome 8900. I used a 12 wt. variegated thread from Sulky. I love machine binding with my walking foot! If you’d like to learn machine binding, there are easy tutorials online. Just search “machine binding”.
And, yes, I mitered the corners–but not perfectly so look away, perfectionists, if that bothers you. Or, maybe not perfectionists—-just quilters with better skills!!!!
Some closeups of the quilting by Carol Byrnes and some of the improv piecing and great fabrics.
Great quilt and I love the stitch you used on the binding – which is perfect enough. I have never had a corner come out, and those wont!
Thanks! I really like that wavy meander too. I use it a lot these days.
