Five By Five Variations is a very modern pattern.  It’s all straight seams–no Y seams, partial seams or curves in these blocks. It’s beginner friendly–and it provides fun opportunities to challenge yourself to create an improvisational layout with the blocks.

THE BLOCKS & THE LAYOUT

The pattern includes 5 blocks that you can arrange according to the layout in the pattern.  OR…you can create a customized version in a number of ways.

  • Lap size has a total of 25 blocks and crib size has a total of 16 blocks.
  • You could vary the layout by adding unpieced negative space blocks.
  • Arrange the 16 or 25 pieced blocks in your own unique layout
  • Create a quilt using only 2 or 3 of the blocks instead of all 5 in the pattern

There are an UNLIMITED number of variations for this quilt!

This is a unique pattern and workshop.  The pattern includes five modern blocks.  You select which blocks you want to use — from one to all five.

During the workshop, you will create your own unique layout and even explore additional variations for future quilts.  I’ll also demonstrate how you can create  unique borders using leftover scraps and blocks.

Every quilt that you make with these blocks will be unique.  And you will have fun learning about creating unique layouts that look improvisational even though it is based on a symmetrical grid.
