Top Gift for a Quilter

This prompt is a really easy one.  And, it can be given any time of year.

The Gift is ….Time!

If there’s a quilter in your life who has a lot of daily responsibilities and/or a JOB, then finding a few hours to make a quilt can be a real struggle.  Quilters need time and energy to make a quilt.

So, be a real friend/partner/sibling, give her or him the gift of TIME to make stuff.

Start by asking the Quilter what kind of time would work best — day, time, frequency.

Here’s some ways to do it:

  • Offer to take the kiddo’s OUT of the house for a few hours once a week or once a month.  Removing the kids from the house means that they won’t come in ‘just for a minute’ to break into some serious sewing time.
  • If you live with the quilter, take over some of the regular chores–like doing the kitchen clean up, putting the kids to bed, doing the grocery shopping. Or maybe just clean the bathrooms and drop a load of laundry.
  • Cook and freeze some meals and take them over to the quilter.  Being able to quickly heat up a nice dinner can mean an extra hour or two of quilting time.

Now Quilters–It’s Time To Take Action and Ask For Time.

Think about how your partner/sibling/kiddos and others in your life can help you carve out some regular sewing time.  Make your requests of the people in your life–request without apology or guilt.  Express your gratitude when the gift of time happens.

Drop a comment about the gift of time and how you would like to have it show up in your life.

Peaceful Piecing,

Carole
